Google Gemini users will now be able to access the AI chatbot directly from the lock screen of their iPhone, a report by 9to5Google said. The Gemini app now has six widgets which users can add to their lock screens for typing prompts directly, talking, setting reminders using the mic, using the camera and sharing images or files.
This means users don’t have to unlock their iPhones before taking pictures with the camera and uploading them to Gemini for analysing or sharing a file with Gemini to give more information about a query.
The update comes just after Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealed that a completely revamped Siri was still years away for Apple.
The new version of Gemini was rolled out yesterday via the App Store.
Last week, it was also reported that Apple Intelligence will be adding Google Gemini as another option to ChatGPT.
Google released a separate app for Gemini last year in November.
