Apple’s dream run in India continues as the iPhone maker secured fourth spot in January 2025 in the world most populous nation with a handsome 11.7% growth on year-over-year (YoY) basis. The U.S. based company held on with 11.4% market share to remain in top five smartphone brands for the fifth consecutive month. This data was shared by IDC on Wednesday (March 5, 2025).
Overall, India’s smartphone market declined by 9.7% YoY in Jan 2025 with slowdown in shipments which grossed 11.1 million units.
Despite new premium and mid-range launches, weak consumer demand and surplus inventory from late 2024 led to a market contraction, noted IDC.
In January, Vivo’s shipment fell down by 8.1%, Samsung’s dropped 19.5%, and Realme witnessed a 5.3% decline. However, Oppo registered 5.9% growth in shipments in the same month.
